Experience
I am a kind and encouraging tutor who strives to explain concepts in a clear manner and help students develop strategies to improve their Spanish skills. Students enjoy my relaxed demeanor and mutual respect for them as important individuals. Currently, I am a Spanish tutor for UpwardBound students through MAC. Before moving to Farmington, I was a career high school Spanish teacher (all levels, including advanced for college/dual credit). Additionally, I taught beginning thru intermediate Spanish at St. Louis Community College for several semesters. I was honored to be selected 7 times for inclusion in Who’s Who Among America's Teachers (based on nominations by my students) and membership in Sigma Delta Pi (a national Spanish Honor Society). To develop my own language skills I was blessed to be able to travel extensively, on numerous trips throughout Spain, Mexico and Puerto Rico. While teaching full-time, I chaperoned my Spanish students several times on educational programs to Mexico and Spain. Currently, I work as an interpreter in a variety of settings.
